THE ELECTIONS.

The nomination for a mejflfber t<7 tefvte . m the General Assembly for the Coleridge district was held at the South Bakaia on Monday, January 3rd, before E. J. Lee, Esq, Returning Officer. j
The Betnrning Officer having reed the writ, called on the electors present to nominate candidates, Mr W. B. Tosswill then ascended the platform, and stated that in consequence of Mr Bluett's proposer and seconder being absent, he had been asked to nominate Mr W. J. G. Bluett as a fit and proper person to represent the Coleridge district, and and he therefore did so.
Hi Jebson rose to second the nomination. Mr W. Wilson proposed Mr J. C. Wason as a candidate.
Mr W. A. Brown secoaded the nomination. Mr A, Saunders, in along epeecb r proposed Mr W. B. losswill.
Mr T. BF. Anson seconded the nomination. Mr Bossfter proposed Mr J; Jebson. Mr Pople seconded the nomination.
No other candidate being: proposed,- the Returning Officer asked the candidates' to address the electors.
The candidates* all made short speeches, as their views were already known. The Returning- Officer then called for a show of hands, which resulted as follows :— Mr Bluett „ % MrWason ... 26 Mr Tosswill ... 2 Mr Jebson ... 8 Mr Saunders demanded a poll on behalf of Mr Toes will.
Mr Bluett proposed, Mr Tosswill seconded, a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer.
