Strange 25 0 0 April 26th, 1875. The second contract is drawing to a close, and the second grant of £6000 from the Church Property Trustees (making £10,000 in all) is more than half exhausted. If the work is to go on, it will be necessary that subscriptions should come in more quickly and freely than is the case at present. No further contract of any large extent can be entered into with the funds which can at present be relied upon, and it has been found on a careful estimate of the work—the first of a detailed nature which has been made— that a ram ol from A 10,000 to £12,000 will be required, beyond the amount .already promised, before the nave and aisles of the Cathedral can be roofed in, and so far completed as to be available for the parposes of divine service. As it cannot be expected that farther grants will be made for this object from the Church Trust Estate, which has already contributed so largely towards it, it is evident that greater efforts will have to be made, and a more liberal spirit evinced on the part of the public generally, to prevent the work being brought to a standstill. Subscriptions (which maybe spread at the -onor's option over a period of three years) may be paid to C.E. Blakiston, Esq, acting Treasurer, to any Member of the Cathedral Commission, or persons authorised by them, or at the Union Bank of Australia, to the account of the Cathedral Fond.
