TEMPLETON.
A meeting of ratepayers was held at the Talbot, Yaldhurst, on Monday, March 30th, to elect a member in the room of Mr W. B. Toßwill, resigned.
The chairman having read the advertisement and explained the reason of the meeting, called upon those present to propose a candidate for election.
Mr Bailey proposed, Mr Hodgin seconded, Mr Barter.
Mr Chesinall proposed, MrDobbs seconded Mr Fleshbourne. ,
On a show of b-uds being taken, the numbers were as follows :—Barter, 5 ; Fleshbourne, 7. Tbe latter perfon was then declared duly elected, and the meeting dispersed. A meeting of the Board was held after wards. Present—The chairman and all the members. Tbe minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed,
Tenders were opened for forming and metalling West Coast road, formation, Maddison's and Savill road, and one in each case accepted. The rate list ordered to be prepared at the last meeting were laid before the Board, and having been approved, was signed by the chairman.
The surveyor was directed to have the same collected ; also the Waimakariri rate at the same time ; also, to have certain repairs made on the road from J. Carter's to the Harewood church ; also, to call for tenders for formation of sixty chainß Bealey road fr.m West Coast road to Anderson's ; also, forming full width the piece already half formed oppos ; te Anderson's ; eighty chains- from Gurragh's: past Gellatley's' to Muirhead's; seventeen chains near Racecourse from Richardson's corner to formation and metalling near Tuft's; sixteen chains half formed already by Tuft's to be whole formed.
The pay sheet, amounting to £28 16s, was adopted and passed, and the Board adjourned. '
