This company is being formed for the purpose of purchasing and working the Kaiapoi Brewery on an extended scale. The want of a first-class brewery, worked upon good principles, has long been felt in Canterbury, for although there is no part of Hew Zealand with better facilities for brewing, there is little or no first-class ale brewed in the province, and the consequence is, that while barley and malt are largely purchased in Canterbury for Dunedin, beer made from the same .is sent here and sold at a high rate, the cost to the consumer being thus increased. The Kaiapoi, Brewery was purchased by the present proprietors with the intention of forming a company for carrying on tbe business, and with this view considerable improvements have been made, and a plant ordered capable of brewing 180 hhds per week. . ...: i _ X Thegreatesteare has been used in theselection of this plant, abd, after considerable pains and research, it was decided to be by far the best plan to adopt the principle of steam, which has of late been so successfully applied to breweries in Dunedin and elsewhere. ; There is a constant supply on the premises of the best brewery water in New Zealand.
