Auckland, June 9

The prospectus of a New Zealand Land and Coal Company is published. There is a great demand foi shares. The "Cross" condemns the Government for giving rations and money to the rebels in the Waikato, and for permitting natives of doubtful loyalty to freely visit the settlements to see what the European authorities are doing. It mentions several cases much complained of by the Waikato settlers. It reported that Mr C. O. Davis intends to take criminal proceedings against the papers and others that circulated reports that he instigated an'attack on Mr Mackay. Wellington, June 9.

The Government have agreed to advance £10,000 to the Kanieri Water Race Company if an equal sum is subscribed by the public. They have also promised to introduce a Bill to grant a loan of £50,000 to the County of Westland, secured on the waste lands of the county and the colony, to pay the interest and sinking fund for a period of ten years. l Bir David Monro has resigned, bis Beat for WalkoßftHit

Dunedes, June 9. The Norfh Harbor -election resulted as follows :—M'Glashan, 177 ; Green, 95. INVERCARGILL, June 9. Mr Gillies addressed a very large meeting on Saturday night. He spoke two hours. The proceedings were very animated. He was questioned two hours. A motion was proposed that be was afit person for the Superintendency. An amendment was moved " that he was not." The motion was carried by two to one, and three cheers * wctc given by the crowd outside as"" Mr Gillies left the hall.

Bluff, June 9. The Alhambra has arrived from Dunedin and sailed for Melbourne.
