At a meeting of the executive committee, held on Feb. 11th, a letter, was read from Messrs Dumergue aud Place, flax manufacturers, Waikukn, Cauternury, proteatiug agai nst the , decision of the judges i n class '• Flax Fibre, cold water-dressed." The subcommittee, appointed to lay down conditions of weight, &c, for exhibits of flax, fixed on the following amounts for cold water dressed fibre ;•—sClbs stripped, 501bs bleached, lOOlbs scutched, 71001 bs hackled. The. judges awarded the first prize to Mr Chinuery, of Rangiora, who had only S-nt in :_i very 'smailj quantity of, highly" dressed fibre. AgaTlTst this decision Messrs Dumergue and Piace protested,' and the committee agreed to allowi the protest. Mr Chinuery was therefore disqualified,' and the Ist prize awarded to M essrs Dumergue and Place.
