COMMERCIAL.
Auckland.—The Orost of the 27th reports ; —The import business during the week has been active. Since our report of Saturday last, the cargoes of the Hero, Prairie, Lady Emma, and Bella Mary have been placed in the market. By the Hero and Prairie the following shipments were received :—67 chests, 290 half-chests, and 98 boxes of tea, 31 packages raisins, 325 barrels currants, 400 boxes candles, 350 cases kerosene, 64 packages tobacco, 1 package cigars, 200 casks cement, 450 bags rice, 20 cases salt, 1068 packages sugar, 40 cases wine, 8 qr-casks wine, 45 qr-casks, 20 cases brandy, 20 cases schnapps, and 60 cases geneva. The cargo of the Bella Mary brought under the hammer, realised the following prices:—Jams (in tins), 7s 7sd per dozen ; in jars, 7d per lb ; eating apples, 3Jd to 3sd; cooking apples, 2£d to 3d ; pears, 2Jd to 3d. There is a fair demand for bacon and hams, which have been sold as high as 9ld per lb. In breadstuffs we have to notice an advance. • The firm tone of the markets elsewhere has induced the millers to raise flour £1 per ton. The receipts during the week were—3o tons Adelaide flour, 8 tons Canterbury flour, and 441 tons Canterbury wheat. Auckland flour is quoted by the millers at £15 4» j£l7 per ton ; Adelaide, £17; Canterbury, fzom £12 to £14 per ton. A small quantity of Hobart Town flour fetched at auction £15 per ton. Oata are well supplied. We quote potato oats, 2s 9d to 3s ; Tartarian, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Maize is better stocked, and worth 4s 3d to 4s 6d. There is very little barley in the market, and 4s 6d is the ruling quotation for parcels in dealers' hands. Potatoes were quitted at auction at £6 per ton.
