POPULAR AMUSEMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION.

The adjourned meeting of this association was held yesterday at the City Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Wynn Williams, J. A. Bird, Anderson, J. Q. Walker, R. P. Crosbie, Andrews, W. Pratt, Hesketb, WVB. Mitchell, and Gordon (hon.-eec). The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Provincial Secretary stating that the Orphan band cooia not attend on the occasion. Duncan, and Captain Wilson; judges, Captain Wilson, Mr W. R. Mitchell; starters, Messrs Crosbie, Bird, "Andrews "and J. Q. Walker; clerk of tbe • course, Mr C Cuff. .....; .' Mr Hesketh was appointed to take charge of the grand stand on the occasion, and instructed to hire two men as check-takers. Some discussion ensued relative to an offer for the right of selling tbe cards of the races on that occasion, but nothing was done. The meeting then adjourned till Tuesday.
