TELEGRAMS.
(Per GrevilWi Telegram Company, Renter's Agents.) Taubanga, April 29. A messenger has been permitted by Te Hira to pass through the forbidden territory, and afterwards the contractor for the extension of the the telegraph line was allowed; also by Te Hira, James Mackay, jun., having requested permission. The natives at Ohinemuri state to the messenger that the overland mail service will be re-established in a few days. Messrs. Tommer, Clarke, and James Mackay are hourly expected at Ohinemuri. Hokitika, April 24. Sailed yesterday, Gothenburg and Northern Light for Melbourne. A fatal accident occurred at the Greenstone on Saturday ; a large boulder gave way and killed George Taylor instantaneously, and broke Sandy Stewart's leg, which has since been amputated. W. S. Reid, of the firm of Button and Reid, Hokitika, has been appointed the first law officer of the Crown. He leaves for Wellington shortly, The Hon. Mr and Mrs Sewell arrivedppre r the coach on Saturday. Arrived—23rd, Dagmar, from Dunedin.
