The recent boisterous weather has completely stopped anything like activity in business during the week, as no country trade his been doing, and the town enquiries hare been very limited, owing, in a measure, to the departure of the English mnil. Wheat has been coming forward somenhnt tardily, and the bulk of it unfortunately appears to be affected by the lute rains, to the great disappointment of shippers. Fine teas are readily quitted in mnall parcels, as this market is only a email consumer. Gunpowder and orange pekoe are not held heavily, but the demand is inconsiderable. Sugars are firm at late quotation?. The recent sale, however, has almost supplied the retailers, so that very little wholesale business is doing. A email shipment in about a month would fetch full prices. Candles work off more freely at to Iβ, according to brand. Kerosene is wanted, and is readily quitted at 3d 6d, ai the demand during winter is always active. Geneva fully maintains late rates, as the market is not overstocked. Mr W. H. Hargreaves disposed of a shipment of timber ex Emulous, on the 28th mat. Fine salt has met with improved enquiry, and several lines have been placed at £4 15s. Plantation coffee is in better repute at 14£ d, and as the winter advancf-e a good trade will no doubt be done.
