fFrom the "Daily Times, ,, April 28.] The rifle shooting for the colonml prizes yesterday in a paddock, the proSst 3 Mr Lindaay, at the Northeast Valley. It was feared, from the inclement weather of the preceding day, that there would have been Borne difficulty in getting the matches off, but, fortunately, the rain had abated and with the exception that it wae rather cold, the weather *as favorable. The attendance of spectators was not Tery large, but those who were there appeared to enjoy the sport thoroughly, and to take much interest in the proceedings. Shortly after ten o'clock in the forenoon lots were drawn and the men told off into equade. Of these there were three, the first of 14 men being under the command of Captain Steward of Ownaro, the second of 34 men under that of Captain Psterson, No 1 Company ; and the third of 13 men under that of Captain Cuntrell S.D» Rangers. The first match ehot ws'for the Judging Dietance prizes, at euch distance (not exceeding 400 yard») as may be appointed by the officer in command of the firing party.
