A FEW FACTS. pERTAIN STATEMENTS haying been made concerning the state of the public accounts at different periods of Mr Moor- i house's administration, calculated to damage Mr Moorhouee at the coming election, the attention of the public is requested to the following statement (carefully compiled from I official returns) of FACTS :— When Mr Moorhouee came into office in November, 1857, there was a balance to the credit of the province of £6,810 0 0 When he left office in March, i 863, the balance to the credit of the province was then 31,978 4, 11 When re-elected in June, 1866, there was a balance against the province on the 30th of that month amounting to £82,216 17s Id When he left office in May 1868, the balance to the credit of the Province was on the 30th June following, after paying £51,929 17b Id due to the Bank! ... 130,616 9 0 And there was a borrowing power left to the extent of £200,000 on the Canterbury ! Loan.
