New Advertisements. TO THE ELECTORS OP THB CI T V OF CHBISTCHURCH. ENTLEMEN—I have the honor to offer myself as a Candidate to represent you in the New Provincial Council. The interest I have taken in City matters for several yeare may eerve ac an excuse for seeking your suffrages, and my actions in the late Provincial Council (*e one of the members for the Heathcote district) may be some guarantee that I will attend faithfully to my duties, and discharge them to the beet of my ability. I think the time is close at hand when some change will have to be made in the disposal of onr Waste Lands, if we are to carry out that colonising mission whioh we have begun, end by which alone this Province cen ever expect to keep her ground as one of the foremost Province! in New Zealand ; I believe that, unless some change in this respect is made, great and ne?esaary railway and other publio works cannot be carried out — our magnificent Waste Lands will lie in their present state for years to come ; and we shall find that the existing liabilities necessitated by the primary portion of our railway system already completed, are a heavy burden, instead of assisting us in being large and remunerative producers of agricultural products, thereby developing the resources of the country. I am of opinion that immigration, on a proper system, can be carried out most advantageously by the Colony, and I would oppose the raising of loans by this Province for immigration purposes. Should you favor mc with your confidence, my constant endeavour will be to do that whioh will promote your interests, and further the general prosperity of tho Provinoe at large. Yours obediently, 4-27 ANDREW DUNCAN.
