Dunedin—There has been rather more animation in the markets to day, and both privately and by auction, better seized parcels have been moved. Moderate sales of spirits are reported at sustained prices; Hennessy's at 28s and 29s ; and Mar'tell's case at a shade below our last quotations. Teas of the finer sorts have moved in fair sized lines at unaltered rates, and generally more disposition to business is manifest. The sale of sugars, ex Isabella, at Messrs McLandress, Hepburn and Co's rooms, occupied attention this morning, the whole cargo selling at rates evidencing a reduction of from 50s to 60s per ton upon rates realised in July for the shipment per Dunloe. The finest whites were quitted at £40 7s 6d j good whites, £37 10s to £39 ; good yellow and grey crystals, £34 to £38 5s j lower do, £32 5s to £34 10s ; brown crystals, £30; lower sorts, £21 10s to £28. The lateness of the season was not in favour of the sale to-day, and many of the lines were of the description unsuited to this market, and not free good conditioned sugars ; the further disadvantage of the bags being large operated against prices, buyers not caring to have these packages for up-country trade. In the produce market there is to be noted an improved feeling, and slightly better prices. The enquiry for flour has been good, and sales to-day show an advance. Oats are also asked for, and quittances of parcels of feed have been made at 3a 3d; really good seed oats are kept for a better rate. Barley has been placed at 5s 4d; and wheats (good grinding), at 4s 10d. The quantity of grain coming to hand is at present small.—"Daily Times," Sept. 8. ' , ■
