Government Notices. &~ ■ w& PUBLIC NOTICEI HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, pursuant to Clause VI. of the Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866, that an APPLICATION has been LODGED in the Land Office, Christchurch, by Messrs Watson and Browne, as holders of Pasturage License No. 45, Claes 3, ,and by Thomas Arthur Clowes, as holder of I Pasturage License No. 224, Class 3, to have the south-eastern boundary of the eaid Run No. 45, and the north-western boundary of the said Run No. 224 amended, in accordance with Clause 111. of the Act above referred to. If any person can show cause why the said boundary of the said Runs should not be altered, tho same must be made known to the Waste Lands Board, Christchurch, before Thursday, the 6th day of May next. RAKAIA BRIDGE. mHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT JL of Canterbury invifce TENDERS for the ERECTION of a BRIDGE over the Sakaia River in accordance with plans and specification to be seen the office of the Provincial Engineer, on and after TUESDAY next, the 27th inst. The bridge to be built of 96 spans of 40 feet each, with approaches of about 779 feet in length. The Government is prepared to receive and consider plans differing from, or modifications of those for the carrying out of which it calls for tenders. Plans and specifications to be forwarded with the tender. The Government engage to return unaccepted plans and specifications, if required to do so. Sealed tenders, endorsed " Rakaia Bridge," to be sent in to this office not later than noon on the Ist July next. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. EDWD. IHE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL having 1 authorised a sum of £3000 to be expended in PREMIUMS for the encouragement of the Manufacture of Woollen Cloths and Beet Boot Sugar, and of local industries, the Provincial Government ia desirous of receiving applications from any person or persons who may be prepared to establish Manufactures of the kind proposed. I The Government will be ready to enter into an engagement with persons who will afford a satisfactory guarantee of their ability to, carry out any such undertaking to leave the bonus open to be claimed by them within a specified time. The Premiums offered are—■ For 5000 yards of woollen cloth ... £1000 For the manufacture of 100 tone of good marketable sugar from Beet Root grown in the province £1000 For the establishment of a Manufactory for the Export of Preserved Fresh Meat, the sum to be paid on the Government being satisfied that not less than 100 tons have been exported, and that there is a reasonable prospect of the manufactory being a permanent success £1000 Applications will be received until noon of the Ist day of July, 1869. Provincial Secretary's Office, Chrietchurch, March 25,1869. 3-27 THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT of CANTERBURY, New Zealand, is prepared to RECEIVE PROPOSALS for the CONSTRUCTION of a RAILWAY between Chrietchurch and the South Bank of the River Kowai, a distance of about twentysix miles, in accordance with the following resolutions of the Provincial Council:— '• 1. That capitalists be invited to undertake the construction of a. cheap railway from Christchurch to the South Bank of the Kowai, and to furnish the necessary rolling stock, buildings, &c." "2. That ifc be a request to the Government to take by Ordinance or otherwise such steps as may be necessary to make £30,000 of the unexpended balance of the loan, and any interest that may accrue thereon, available as a fund for guaranteeing capitalists' interest on the cost of the said railway. ,, "3. That before any tender fee accepted the sanction of the Provincial Council be first obtained."
