Bowen, Esq., B.M.] LATJCENY, . .-...; John Henry BeLion, who has been convicted en five previous occasions for similar offences, was brought up in custody charged with stealing a pair of trousers from the Mechanics' Hotel. ... Frederick Watling said—l have been living at the Mechanic , , Hotel. The prisoner slept in the next bedroom.' I missed the trousers yesterday morning. The trousers produced are the ones. I next saw them in prisoner s possession; he was offering them for sale. John Thomas Kennedy proved to seeing the prisoner offering the trousers for sale near tbe Government .buildings. This closed the evidence hvthis case. : There -was also a charge of violent assault against the prisoner. .....,., John Thomas Kennedy I was; walking behind the prisoner after he had been taken into custody, he turned round and struck mc a severe blow on the head with his stick.
