New Advertisements. TO THE SQUATTER 3OF CANTERBURY. THE approaching wool season will in all probability allow of trivial comment, especially as wiien it comes from a desire to do orood to those concerned. Money ie paid «<-ii ht t'..t> time, but worse in after thought. Iho routino of the squatter is to deal in ttte best market returning him cash; in the chotteat time, say firo weeks. Those who may foal themselves in difficulty should got out of tho old system and get into tho new ono of making money instead of losing it., There is another circumstance which I am desitoua of bringing under tho notice of wool-growers generally. I allude to tho " quasi" classing of wool. It is no doubt desirable thai wools should bo properly classed, but this ia nofc easily attainable; and if it cannot bo done well, it is far bettor not to attempt to do it all. I have in my mind several clips which have been classed into several eorts of combing and clothing wool, not one of which answered tho several descriptions marked on the bales. I have aeen good combing wool, mixed with other wools, in bales marked as first or second clothing, and vice versa. I have seen clothing wools largely interspersed in bales marked " combing." Ido not, of course, intend this to apply to clips which have hud tho advantage of the manipulations of skilled sorter*}; but there are many equattere who think themselves fully qualified to sort thoir own wook j but, in my opinion, they would do much better if they let it alone. There is, howevar, ono system of sorting, which I commend to tho attention of all squatters who have not the service of really competent hands at their disposal, and it is this : To skirt tho fleeces fairly, and remove the breech and necks ; to pack these eefiiv ately, and brand thorn as broken, pieces, «o.; to pack the fleeces according to their several descriptions, and brand thorn as hoggota, ewes, wethers, &c., as tho case may bo. In most instances this will be accepted as a very satisfactory mode of sorting, both in thie find the English markets. . Another thing whioh I desire to impress upon tho wool-growers of this colony is, to keep, Bβ far as packing is concerned, an even quality as to condition. It must often occur that some sheop in largo flocks will necessarily escape from the waeheru* hands before the fleeces are so thoroughly cleaned as those of the bulk of the flock. In such cases the badly-washed fleeces should bo kept separate, and packed by themselves, and noticed either in the specification or by a distinguishing mark. B. M. BOWJBD.
