Thee b Phoebe, Captain E Wheeler, arrived in harbour at 12 30 yesterday. Left Port Chalmers at 330 p m on Monday, the sth instant, and experienced fair wind and fine weather during the passage. Wo have to thank Mr Hamlyn, purser, 'for files. She eails to-day at 1 o'clock for Northern ports.
The ship Mindora, with the salmon ova on board, is now 91 days out, and with the prevailing westerly winds, she may be hourly looked for. The Government have chartered the cutter Surprise to take the ova to the Molyneux on arrival; as also the steamer Taiaroa, to tow the cutter round. A gentleman is in waiting to take charge of a portion of the ova on the part of Southland, and it is believed that Sergeant Quin will perform a similar office as he did last year for the Canterbury province.— v Otago Daily Times," April 5.
