TIMARU.
There has been tolerable activity in the grain market during the last few days. Quotations 2s 6d for medium quality wheat, but we hear of 3s 9d having been given for firstclass samples. For oats 2s 6d may be quoted as the average price. Mr Stubbs reports that his weekly sale of produce on Saturday, 27th ult., was well attended, and the following prices were obtained : —Potatoes, 4s to 4s 9d per cwt; cheese, 4d and 4Jd per lb ; flour, inferior, lis to lis 6d per 100 lbs. Same day at Mr Hudson's, 26 sides mutton were sold at an average of 3s lOd per side ; and at his rooms he a'so sold 20 sides mutton at an average of 4s 2d per side.. On Wednesday his meat sales resulted in about the same average. —" Herald," April 3.
