OAMARU.
We hear of a sale of oats at 2s 6d per bushel. Wheat is enquired for at 3s 9d, but holders decline to quit at this price, expeoting an early improvement of the market. The recent news from South Chile as to the failure of the wheat harvest there may perhaps have induced some amount of confidence in the probability of improved rat6s. Generally commercial matters are very quiet, and transactions are principally confined to second hands. The only transaction in the cattle trade bas been a private sale by Messrs Fleming and Hedley, at which 55 head were placed at prices as under Calves, £2; yearlings, £3; two-year-olds, £5 ;* three-year-olds (heifers) 8 guineas; and a lot of halfbred mixed hoggets at 4s per head.—" Oamaru Times," March 26.
