[from otje, cobeespondent.] Wellington, Feb. 25, 1.48 p.m. A deputation of magistrates waited on the Governor yesterday evening. The : Governor remarked.that he had just received a despatch from Tiotd Granville, stating that his first official act was to write confirming the policy of his predecessors that no troops should remain; in any colony which did not contribute £40 per man per annum. The G-overnor also observed that an intimation had been conveyed that it was useless for him to write any more despatches on the subject as that was the settled policy of the Empire; that whatever catastrophe occurred he had no power to retain the troops. Only General Chute could do so. None of the regimental officers in the colony would be justified in disobeying General Chute's orders for the troops to embark in tHe Himalaya.
