RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
CiiBISTCBUECn— February 19. [Before C. C. Bowen, Esq, R.M.] DBTJNKENNESS. David Gray, on bail, was charged with hay* in* been drunk and incapable while m charge of a borse. Prisoner admitted the charge, and his Worship fined him ss. Lyttelton —Febbuaby 19. [Before Wm. Donald, Esq., P.M.] LABCENY. Thomas Louder, who had been imprisoned for failing to appear to his bail, was charged S on the 13th August last having been read, Thomas Leslie was examined, and stated— T had nothing but tho coins and two or three fan cent greenbacks. I missed them when the box m* faken. The box usually stood in the ba By the Accused-Mr Day, of Sumner, had gome of the coins. I saw the coin in Mr Banter's window next day. Henry Koasiter, sworn, deposed—l recollect the evening I saw prisoner; it was the next , nTng aflr I had bought the coin. I asked prisoner if he had any more coins. He said «Ye 3 I have," and "I oannot show them till the morning." He said he had some greenback and would show them to mc. He offered to show them to the constable. After*wd ß he said he would not. He said he bongbtthe coins in the valley, but afterwards iaidatMelbonrae. ~,,,. ~ „ The Magistrate said that the evidence pointed towards tho lad as having stolen the com and was not sufficient to prove the prisoner's guilt. He would therefore be disdischarged. The prisoner was then released from custody with a warning not to abscond from his bail again.
