[from our own coeeespondent.] "Wellington, Feb. 17, 6.57 p.m. The Melbourne mail tenders are not yet decided upon. The tenderers make no secret of having tendered not only for the Wellington direct route, but for several supposititious routes. It is supposed that the consideration of these causes the delay. The sailmaker of the St. Vincent has arrived in town and reports that onlytwo bodies have been washed up. The chief mate, Stringer, has gone out to make a further search. An official enquiry will probably be held on Monday. The ship's flags are hoisted half-mast high on account of the sad event; and a subscription is afloat for the widows and orphans. Mr EitzQ-erald's lecture on the public revenues of England, given at the Oddfellows' Hall last night, was an elaborate digest of the subject up to the time of the Commonwealth. The Hon. J. Johnstone occupied tlie ftair. ;
