POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANKS.

The following are the regulations for the Savings Banks eutablisbed at Chrietcburch, Ljttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa, and Waimate :— 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given on euros less thnn ££00 ; at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on cum* over £200; and in the samo proportion for any shorter time on every complete £1 deposit, provided that no interest be allowed on more than £500. 2. Depositors in the Post-office Saving* Banks have directed Government security for the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any orje of the Post-office Banks can continue his deposits at any other of such banks, and can withdraw hie money at that Poet office Bank which is most convenient to him. 4. The strictest secrecy is observed with respect to the names of depositors in Postoffice Banks, and the amounts of their deposits. 5. Married women may deposit money in the Post-office Savings Banks, and money so deposited will be repaid to the depositor, unless her husband gives notice, in writing of marriage, and claims payment of the de posits, 6. Money may be deposited by or on behali of minors. Depositors over seven years o' age are treated as persons of full age ; but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits uutU they have reached the age of seven. 7. Applications to the chief office in each province on the business of the Post-office i Savings Banks, and the replies sent thereto, I J9 free from charge for postage.
