HOBART TOWN.

The " Mercury," of the 13th ultimo, reports : — Business is rather depressed at present, and there is a downward tendency in the bread (•tuff* market o«ing no doubt to the limited amount of local trade, bakers generally buying only from hand to mouth. A sale of about 6u6 bushels of wheat was made to-day at 4* 6d per bushel for export, the lot being the balance of a parcel, the bulk of which was sold some time ago. The quotation given us is from 4s 4d to 4s 6d per bushel, according to quality. Flour is still quoted nominally at from £10 to £10 10s per ton, and bran at Iβ per bushel. Sharps £6 per ton. Oats are noc in gre»t demand, and the quotation given is from 2s 2d to 2s 3d per bushel. Peas were sold to-day at 3s 6d per bushel. Old potatoes are, we believe, inquired for, but wo have heard of no important sales. A parcel of fine new butter was sold to-day at 10d per lb. A considerable quantity of old is still in the market, but there is very little sale for it. Bacon was sold to-day, in trade parcels, at 6d per lb, and a little lot of superior quality brought 8d; these prices pretty fairly represent the market range for this produce. Hams are quoted at from 7d to 9d per lb. There have been few sales of bark lately, and we have heard of no extensive orders as yet; old bark chopped would realise readily £4 yer ton, including bags."
