His dam, by Old Merrilegs—by Lottery, grandsire—Performer, great grandsire—Pretender. Young Pretender, Quicksilver's own brother, obtained the first prize at the Royal Agricultural Show at Leeds, and afterwards sold for £750 to go to France. Terms: —£10 ; groomage, 10s. More than one mare as per agreement. 10-8 J. Ladbbooke. TO STAND THIS SEASON, THE IMPORTED CLYDESDALE HORSE NAPOLEON. On Mondays—At Mr Grigg's Farm, The Halswell, late Burton's. On Wednesdays and Saturdays—At Mr Mitchell's Hereford-street Repository. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays—At the Home Station, Burnside, Fendalltown. Was bred by Mr Macadam, Kepkulloch, out of a pure Clydesdale mare purchased from Lorn Campbell, Esq., of Roseneath, whose well-known stock of brood mares surpasses any in the West Country for symmetry and purity of breeding. His sire was bred by Mr Buchanan, of Coldracb, out of a very superior mare, who gained a number of first prizes at I Drymen Show, and also the Highland Society's prize of £10. She also bred some of the most valuable stock that has been exhibited in the west of Scotland —namely Napoleon's sire, George Buchanan, by Tom, who gained the premium at Cupar Fyfe, (George Buchanan was sold for £200 when three years old) ; a mare who gained a great number of first prizes at local shows, and the third prize at the late Highland Society's show in Glasgow, and was sold for the handsome sum of £150 -, a colt, Ben Lomond, full brother to Napoleon, when one year old, sold to Mr Peter Crawford, Dumgoyack, for £100, and who gained the first premium at the Highland Society's show, at Aberdeen in 1858, and last year the first prize at Glasgow, and was sold at the end of the season for £250 to go to Australia. Ben Lomond took the second prize when shown in Melbourne in 1864, out of fourteen imported horses, only beaten by Black Leg, who has never been beaten; Napoleon stands sixteen and a-half hands high, strong bone and compactly built. He gained the first prize at the Bucklyvie and Gartmore Agricultural Society's show when two years old; also, when rising, the Inverary prize to serve mares in that disj trict, where he proved himself an unprecedently sure foal-getter j and the year following I the prize in the southern district of ForfarI shire ; and in Dunedin he took the first prize in 1863, second in 1864, and first in 1866. Terms— £6 6s each, payable March 1; or by acceptance, January 1, 1868. Guarantee, £8 Bs. Good paddock accommodation at 2s 6d per week. Every care taken, but no responsibility incurred.
