Timaru, October 16, 3.52 p.m. The Timaru Landing Service Company have commenced excavations on the beach for the erection of capstans and sheds. A most determined opposition exists against the Government for their rejection of all tenders from Timaru. It is not improbable that the Superintendent will have to make an application to the Supreme Court to restrain the company _rom| taking any further steps. [By Interprovincial Telegraph.] Wellington, October 16, 5.5 p.m. The sittings of the Court of Appeal were continued to-day, and the case of j Messrs Kennard was proceeded with. Mr Travers and 'the Attorney-General were heard, and the Court adjourned before Mr Travers's reply was finished. The Auckland goidfields are still waiting for machinery. The reef prospects are excellent.
