WELLINGTON.
The " Independent, ,, of the Bth insfent, reports as follows :— We regret again to state that business continues very quiet, operations being conducted on the' smallest' scale, and merely for immediate trade" requirements. The Otter" has arrived from London,' which twill only add Ito our |already over-stocked market. Continued boisterous weather and the bad state of the roads operate greatly towards the times. We also notice an entire absence of inquiry for colonial produce this , winter! Butter is not much wanted, bacon is unsaleable, and we have had no shipments of live stock to the West Coast as in former winters.
