0.V.F.8. TO THE EDITOR OF THE PBESS. Sib,—l Baw by your leading articla on tho 2nd instant that the reason of the old Fir* Brigade resigning was because of the steam engine failing. I beg to inform you it Wn l nothing of tho kind, but that it w 6B in eon. sequence of remarks made by leading members of the City Council and others, together with their not giving satisfaction to tho Brigade I should like to know in what way they aro throwing obstacles in the way of thoir successors ? And again, you speak of them aa pinning their faith to tho steam-engine, to tho neglecting of the hook and ladder company. I should like to know where the Into Urea hi Colombo street would huvo ended had it not been for the steam-engine. But, spoaking of hook and ladder companies, I might hero mention that the apparatus is now on its road out from England. Wishing success to tho new Brigade, with more thanks than the old got, I remain yours, &c, Too Many Feeds.
