Suckling, High street, Christchurch. 514 GENERAL COMMITTEE CANTERBURY RIFLE VOLUNTEERS. mHE GENERAL COMMITTEE having X seen an account in the "Volunteer Service Gazette," published in London, of an unfortunate accident whereby one Private Holt, of the 3rd Manchester Rifles, was shot while in the execution of his duty; and learning also therefrom that that Volunteer has left a widow and five children totally unprovided for, have determined upon opening-a subscription among the Volunteers of Canterbury, in order to raise a sum to send home to assist the local effort made for the relief of the sufferers by this calamity. Each subscription is limited to the Bum of one shilling, and Volunteers desirous of subscribing are requested to pay in their subscriptions through the officers commanding their respective corps; and officers commanding are respectfully requested to receive and forward such subscriptions with as little delay as possible to Lieutenant Dobson, treasurer to the committee.
