The business of the last few days has been affected by the continued delay in the arrival of the home mails, expected via Panama, and by the occurrence in the early part of the week df a severe fire in Princes street ; there has been, therefore, a dearth of transactions in ' the l import market, and hardly anything of. interest to notice. A fair town and country trade, is, however, maintained; and for despatch coastwise a modeamount of orders has been received. Flour, both imported and Provincial, are at tho values' of the last week, the business doing being limited to trade parcels. , The operations in sugars have been trifling ; and of teas we only'hear of inconsiderable sales. Both articles are.at sustained rates. In . provisions" little enquiry except for butter, which is'scarce, rat the current value, Is 4d. Malt liquors in glass continue very languid, the stocks both ,of stouts and ales being very heavy. The trade in stouts has been checked by t&e number of parcels upon the market, the condition of which is very bad; whilst for bottled alei enquiry seenis to ; have died away. Thenncrw r brew bulk ales have been selling fairly. Spirits have commanded scarcely any attention. The words "allowance of five per cent," feferririgfo sugars in bur issue of the sth, should have read of five per cent."
