(By Inter-Provincial Telegraph.) Nelson, Thursday, 5.5 p.m. Arrived—Queen, from "Wellington and Picton. The Governor's addresses were delivered on July 3. In that to the Legislative Council he referred to the increase in the number of representatives as giving weight to the Legislature ; also to the cessation of hostilties in the North Island as leading to tranquility ; also to the wish of the present Government to take advantage of the indication of the Natives to live peaceably, and expressed a belief that they are eventually assured of tho advantages of habits of order; referred also to the necessity of still providing means of repressing outrages in the absence of the troops, who are leaving as fast as transports can be procured; also to the pride of the public in the institution of the Panama service, and telegraphs throughout New Zealand by Cook's Straits; also to the increase of gold produce—To the House of Representatives he stated that rigid economy would be practised, and that the same would regulate the estimates for the ensuing year; that the recent disposal of the loan showed that confidence was existing in our securities ; referred to the propriety of enabling the existing liabilities of New Zealand to be consolidated; also referred to the revision of the tariff, and the Civil Service Commission. Steamer Taranaka arrived from the North. Duitedik, July 5, 7.25 p.m. Sailed—Phoebe, for Lyttelton. Arrived—Wellington, from Lyttelton. The perjury case, Uussell v Barton, has been dismissed, Bench remarking that the proceedings resembled persecution instead of prosecution. Barton addressed the Magistrates, saying that he hoped they would not allow further proceedings to be taken against him. He stated that there were three actions pending against him, one a malicious prosecution, with damages at £2000, another, claiming from him and Miller's trustee ,£SOOO, the value of a run. The Superintendent, Provincial Secretary, and the remainder of the members of the General Assembly sailed nortli to-day.
