OAMABTJ. The "Times," of the 26th instant, reports : —

The annual show of the Northern Pastoral and Agricultural Association materially interfered with general trade last week, but a considerable amount of stock and other property changed hands at auction sales. The shipping has been less active than ueual —the Matilda Hayes, from Dunedin, bringing the only important additions to stocks, while the Edward and Christopher cleared out forLyttelton with a cargo of grain. Former quotations are maintained. AGRICULTURAL AJTD PASTORAL. "We have to record a continuance of cold and unseasonable weather, anything but favorable for the country districts. The lambing, so far as wo have ascertained, ha.* progressed satisfactorily, and a large per cent' Hge is reported. We refer to the slock reports of Messrs Roysc, Mudie and Miller and Mr. W. L. Lees for particulars as to the transactions during the week. Messrs. Royse, Mudie and Miller, report as follows : — Our third annual show of stock has been closed, and with decided success. The opinion of all judges of merino sheep is, that the competing lots here could not be equalled in the southern hemisphere, if in the world, for erery valuable quality of wool, symmetry of of frame, and soundness of constitution. Mr Rich, resting on his laurals, did not show this venr, but his breed, as usual, took the lead. Some of his own disciples tread so closely on hie heel* that he will have to look well to his future honore. Messrs. Julius exhibited, with one pen of Mr. Rich's breed, several pens of the Yon Steiger breed, which carried off honors, a 9 did those exhibited by W. H. Teschemaker, Esq. It is well we have so valuable a change of blood for our flocks as the latter exhibits. Mr. Buckland's rams were equal to last year, when they took the first prize ; but being much knocked about at sea on their passage down, were out of condition. His ewes were more successful, having carried off the first prize. Mr. Hassal'e fifty choice ewes, with lambs, could hardly be surpassed by the parent flock, and with his care and judgment, will secure for the colony a valuable breed of rams. Messrs. Holmes and Campbell's, and Teschemaker and M'Master's rams were really fine animals ; in fact, all exhibited showed the marked attention now bestowed on our first combing wools. In Leieesters the show was limited, but very choice lots were exhibited, and the Romney Marshes shown by Dr. Webster excited much attention. The exhibits of cattle and horses were about equal to last show. Our sales Were — Rams —Twenty-two of J. C. Buckland's, averaging £9 10s each, purchased by Messrs. Studholm Bros, and J. P. Gordon, Esq Twenty of Messrs. Julius' at £8 10s each, also to Mr. Gordou j and one imported ram (Yon Theliger's), purchased by Messrs. Julius. Ewes—Seven of Mr. Buckland's prize ewe hoggets, at £10 at £10 10s each, J P. Gordon, Esq. ; ten Leicester ewe hoggets, by the same breeder, to M. S. Gleeson, Esq. Horses —Wβ sold thirty-seven horses. No good hacks offering. Draughts were in demand. We sold ten, averaging £48 10s each. Working Bullocks —We sold Messrs. Allan's superior team at £140; Mr. Hartley's at £125; and Mr. Franc's, in low condition, eeven at £90. jCattle—We solcLjall lots offered except eighteelThead, which aid not rescn Ttre -.reserve price. The competition was very spiritless. Mr. W. L. Lees reports sales of stock on the 19th and 20th October very dull ; very little competition for store sheep, and not many lots changed hands. He reports having sold the champion prize ram, exhibited by James Hassell, Esq., (taking the first prize for the best ram in the yard), to Messrs. E A. and R. Julius, for 100 guineas ; the other prize sheep were taken in at owner's limits. He reports having sold forty head of nattle, principally heifers, young steers, mid quiet dairy cows, from £6 to £11 each. Above twenty head of horse stock, light saddle and harness horses, from £10 to £26 each.
