CITY COUNCIL. THE following places have been appointed by the City Council as Public Stands under the Hackney Carriage By-Law: — The South side of the Post Office, not exceeding four carriages in two rows, the horses facing eithar east or west. On the Triangle, opposite the City Hotel, not exceeding five carriages in two rows, the horses facing either east or west. On the Triangle, opposite Messrs. Ollivier's offices, not exceeding three carriages, the horses' heads of two carriages on the western side facing either north or south, and the other on the east side facing east. On the Triangle, opposite J. D. Macpherson's store, not exceeding one carriage on the western point, the horses facing weßt. On the Triangle, opposite Mrs. Butler's, not exceeding two carriages, the horses facing either east or west. On the Triangle, opposite Mrs. O'Hara's, not "exceeding two carriages, the horses facing either east or west. And at the Christchurch Railway Station, as will be pointed out by the Inspector. Owners and drivers are particularly requested to attend to the following regulations, which will be strictly enforced. No Hackney carriage will be allowed to stand for hire nearer than sixteen feet from the side channeling of any foot-path which fronts on buildings.
