RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Christchitrch —May 18. [Before O. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.] William Allardes was summoned by Mrs. Duffy for using obscene language in a public thoroughfare, on Thursday night, the 11th inst. Defendant denied the charge, and produced a witness who stated that he never heard defendant use obscene language to the prosecutrix. The Resident Magistrate dismissed the case. James Rosser was fined £1 for rescuing a horse while being driven to the pound. John Conway was charged with being drunk and disorderly, and assaulting the police in the execution of their duty. Prisoner was fined 10s. Henry Clifton was brought up charged with being drunk and incapable. This being his first offence, prisoner was discharged with a caution. : William Davidson was charged on the information of J. T. Ford, Esq., with driving sheep across his run without giving due notice in accordance with Clause 40 of the Sheep Ordinance, 1864. The prosecutor stated that he only brought this case before the Bench as a caution to others, and he did not wish defendant to be punished. Tho Resident Magistrate dismissed the case with a caution.
