GENERAL SYNOD.
TheSynod metafrfour p.m., fee Primate of New Zealand in fee chair. Members present: The Right Reverends fee Bishops of Christchurch, Wellington, Waiapu, and Melanesia; the Archdeacon of Christ- : church, the Archdeacon; of Waikato; fee Revs. J. Wilson, J. 0. Bagshaw r . F. Tripp, A. Stock, R. Taylor, E. G. Edwards, J. F. Lloyd, E. B. Clark and R. Burrows j and the lay members of the Synod. The meeting having been opened wife prayer by fee Primate, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The President read a letter from the Lord Bishop of Nelson, expressing hia regret that, in consequence of fee state of ins health, he should be unable to take part in fee business of the Synod. kbpobt or thb coJacrrrSß. The report of fee Committee On fee Standing Orders was brought up and read. The Primate then called upon the Veh. the Archdeacoa of Christchurch to move the resolution standing in his "name, -when, The Rev. A. Stock called the attention of fee j Synod to the fact that there were no Stending Orders. The" Rev. J. C. Bagshaw suggested that the Synod sbou'd take np the Standing Orders and settle them \ first, as at the end of an important debate difficulties - might arise. He should be unwilling to go on wife fee debate until those orders were first disposed of.
Tbe Lord Bishop of Wellington, as Chairman of the Committee, would have no objection to this course, if it was the wish of the Synod. The Primate put the question, whether the Standing Orders as they then stood should be the rule of the Synod until they should be altered. The question was carried in the affirmative.
