• Press,' Office, Saturday night, March 28,1863. Grain.-—Grain of all sorts was freely offered to-day, but, owing to formers not submitting to ony reduction, but little business was done. In wheat we believe but few parcels changed hands, and those fow only for homo use. Barley comes to hand in small lots, and of an inferior quality, and barely maintained last quotations. Oats still continuo to be supplied quite equal to the demand, notwithstanding many aro holding for higher prices. Other grain nominal. White wheat. 4s 9d to ss; red Wheat, 4s 3d to 4s fid i barley, 5s to BeGdj barley, for horse food, 4s 6d. oats, 5s to He 3d; peas, 6s to 5s 6d. Cattle.—Fat stock of all sorts ore still in demand. A fair amount of business in both beef and mutton h-8 been done during the week. Fat cattlo are quoted at sd. Store cattle ore not so eagerly sought for, but wo can hardly quote lower prices. ' Sheep.—Breeding ewes aro in good demand, sod present rates fully maintained. Store sheop std still enquired for. Good fat sheep have been sold on the station, about twenty-five miles from Christchurch, as high as 28s. . yfo may mention that stock is at present generalb/ cleared. • Station property is in active demand, and prices aro fully maintained. \ M-BSBB. Babxabd—Report* sales of draught add light horses as follows: 6 inferior draught 'torses at £44 to £55 each; 15 inferior light harness and saddle horses from £17 to £44 each, Average, £26 6s each; 5 unbroken colts and fillies, £16 to£27 each; 2 pair of working bullocks £25 to $31! pair; one milch cow in full profit £25; one much cow in calf £14 14s. " Mb. 0-MViBR sold 24 head of cows and young Jtock, at Aikman and Wilson's stockyards, at wflowing prices:—Cows, £10 10s. to £14. each; fcifera, £7 10s.; steers, £610s. Mb. H. E. AtPOBT reports a numerous attendance and a brisk sale at market auction, to-day— 18 pigs brought from 12s. to 255. each; fowls, 3s. 6d. to 6s. per couple; ton chceso, 9Jd. to ls. per lb.; peas, ss. per bushel; flour, £13.p0r ton. A considerable parcel of groceries, oilman's stores, furniture, and saddlery was disposed of at fair , rates.

• Messrs. Jackson and Bishop report that the w»t common bricks have had a good steady domand all through tho season at £6. Floor tiles, at 2s. 6d. the dozen, machine made, etc in good demand for tho flooring of verandahs, Passages, back kitchens, warehouses, dairy floors. &c.

-In drain pipes, tho Provincial Government are •"Host the only consumers to any extent; but on woount of tho Government the domand is brisk. In fire bricks, tiles, aud lumps thero is a large demand, sufficiently so now as to require a better Jncans of getting the clay to tho works from the Malvern Hills, and great efforts will bo mode next spring to effect this desirable object.
