Nursing Division Reports To Ambulance Association

Nursing Cadet Division reports presented to the annual meeting of the St. John Ambulance Association in Whakatane were:—

This year, eleven of our members gained their Resusciation certificates with the Royal Life-Sav-ing Society. Two members also gained their first aid medallions. At present the Nursing Division are ,

having a course of lectures on personal and public hygiene. A class in Home Nursing which has been arranged, will start shortly. Several members have joined the R.N. Association as auxiliary members and should benefit from their association with this Society. A course in Preliminary Home Nursing was given the Ambulance Cadets. We have also acquired some more equipment for our training room which could be of benefit to our members in the course of their training. The members attend all hockey matches in our area where their are ladies matches. They have also been called upon to help with several private nursing cases. They attended 29 public duties and travelled 4436 J miles and gave 1961 hours of their time in attending to patients travelling in the ambulance.

In March, we travelled in company with the Ambulance Brigade to a field day held by the Tauranga branch at the Mount, a very enjoyable day was spent, two teams entering in the competition and should benefit by their experience. I wish to thank the Association for making it possible to re-pay members for the cost of their uniforms and being able to provide all members with free uniforms. A vote of thanks is due to Miss F. Fife and Mrs Stewart for their excellent work with the Nursing Cadets. I also wish to thank the Superintendent, officers and members of the Brigade for their cooperation and help in our work for the past year.

ST JOHN CADET Parades are held weekly on Wednesday evenings at 6.15 p.m. Several proficiency examinations have been gained during the year. About 10 girls are due for their Grand Prior Badges. We have 15 senior and 10 junior girls. Our annual Christmas party was held as usnual when patients from the hospital were guests for the evening. >
