Fireproof And Mothproof Fabrics Made Of Wool
Fireproof and mothproof wool fabrics made by a new secret process, for use in the furnishings of civil airliners and for the aircrews uniforms, were shown at the Society of British Aircraft Constructors’ flying display at Farnborough (England) during September 6-10, states the New Zealand Wool Board. These specialised fabrics, marketed as “Tinkertex,” apeared in the static section of the exhibition on the stand of a Yorkshire firm of woollen manufacturers which hat for many years specialised in supplying fabrics for military and civil organisations, railways, police, etc., for most countries in the Commonwealth. Mr Derek Tinker, chairman and managing director, claims to be one of Britain’s most airminded manufacturers; he flies hundreds of thousands of miles every year marketing British cloth overseas.
