Edgecumbe Report Made To St John Ambulance Meeting

This report was presented i the annual meeting of the St John Ambulance Association on Thursday night by the Edgecumbe brigade:— In spite of the fact that our members were called upon to do double dudes practically every weekend with football and hockey, every sports function was covered, and 3 desire to express nry appreciation of the manner in which members came forward without any complaint when the duties were announced each week. At least 10 more members of the same calibre are urgently required, and would prove a wonderful asset to our brigade. We still hope that the districts covered by the Edgecumbe Brigade, Edgecumbe, Thornton, Awakeri, Te Teko and Matata, will realise from this report just how we are striving to create an efficient organisation and to enable us to give the service they desire, a service which a district of this size definitely requires. Towards the end of the season, we unfortunately lost the valuable .services of Mr Massey, our Superintendent, due to health reasons. I ■desire here on behalf of our brigade to pay a tribute to Mr Massey’s wonderful service on our behalf.

During the year'a sports day was held at Edgecumbe which proved to be very successful indeed, the proceeds from this function were lodged with the Secretary of the Association who has opened an Edgecumbe Brigade Building Account. We desire to thank the Axemen’s Club, all sports bodies and everyone who assisted to make the day such a success. They are the people who have laid'the foundation stone of what we hope will materialise in the near future to a training centre in Edgecumbe for our brigade. In this respect we have been negotiating for a section and the prospects are very encouraging indeed.

The following is 'a summary of parades- and duties performed this year up to date:—Parados 23, publie duties 102, cases treated 152 of which 12 were not P.D.

The re-examination and church parade were held in August. In conclusion, I desire to thank the Association for their courtesy and assistance during the year.
