HAYWARD—WRATTEN

A very pretty wedding took place at St John’s Church, Te Awamutu, on August 12 when Brenda Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Wratten, Alexandra Street, Te Awamutu, was married to Alfred George, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs Hayward, Taneatua. The Rev. J. D. Hogg officiated at the ceremony.

The bride who was escorted by her father wore an exquisite frock of embossed georgette cut on classical lines, buttoned from a high' neckline to below the waist back and front, finished with a spray of satin roses at the back. The full skirt fell to form a long train which 1 was edged with a narrow frilling of georgette. The-long sleeves were full to the elbow, tight-fitting to wrist, finished with a row of tiny buttons. i

The uncut tulle veil was held in place by a halo of satin roses. She carried a bouquet of cyclamen, white orchids, hyacinths, winter roses and maidenhair fern.

Attending the bride were her sis-\ ter Diana and her cousin Audrey - Ward, of Tauranga, Betty Hayward - niece of the bridegroom, and two flower girls, Annette and Julleen Linehan.

A rainbow effect was created by their gowns of moire taffeta m shades of rose pink, blue, green, pale pink and pale blue respectively.

The bridesmaids’ frocks • were made with off shoulder neckline buttoned down the back with rows of frills on the skirt. . The flowergirls’ skirts were made with a sweetheart neckline, tucked bodice and frilled skirt. All the head-dresses were taffeta bandeaux with a bow at the back and clusters of hand-made satin roses of all colours edged with a tiny frill f tulle. They wore tulle mittens to match their frocks and carried posies of pink carnations, stocks, single camelias, winter roses and maiden- * hair fern. The best man was Mr Allan Bell, Waimana, and the groomsman was Mr Peter Hodgson, Hairini. The 7 duties of ushers were carried out by Mr Ray Verity and Mr Gaten-Hodgson, both of Hairini.

As the bride left the church she was presented with a satin horseshoe by little /Carol Johnston of Hairini. The reception was held at the Hall which had been prettily decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. Mrs Wratten received her guests wearing a tailored suit of Donegal tweed with wine accessories. She v/as assisted by the bridegroom’s sister, who wore a tweed suit with bottlegreen accessories. They both wore orchid sprays. Tho happy couple left by car for Napier en, route south, the bride wearing a tailored costume with brown accessories.

They will make their home at Morrinsville.

Foilowing the wedding Mr and Mrs Wratten entertained their guests and friends at a dance in the Hairini Hall, a pleasant and jolly function encluding a memorable day.
