W.I. Members’ Day At Edgecumbe
The August meeting of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute was an interesting one, it being members’ day. The official duties were undertaken by Mrs D. Radcliffe, president, and Mrs S. Learning, secretary. Mrs S. Lansaman, conference delgate, gave a comprehensive report on the business of the conference. Mrs S. G. Sutcliffe- of Whakatane, gave a demonstration of pine needle shopping baskets. Competition results were: Best flower, Mr,s R- Duckworth 1, Mrs L. Perkins and Mi's S. Learning, 2 equal, Mrs D. G. Hawkins and Mrs A. Blake, 3 equal; sultana cake, Mrs Blake 1, Mrs K. Watson 2; leeks, Mrs Watson 1; narcissus, Mrs Blake. Eggs were won by Mrs C Francis.
