Paroa Wins Maori Schools' Annual Shield Tourney

Gaining 14 joints Paroa were the winners of the annual basketball

tournament for Maori Schools played at Pukehina for the Ngareta Henere Memorial Shield during the week-end. They finished five points ahead of Matata with Matata Catholic and Poroporo sixth. Eight schools were represented. Mr H. Hauesler, headmaster of Paroa School, returned thanks on behalf of the visitors, commending the local committee and teachers on their organisation of the event. The day’s proceedings were opened and closed by action jsongs of welcome and farewell given by Pukehina and Paroa pupils, respectively. Results:—
