TWO BAY NOMINEES SELECTED FOR THE MAORI ALL BLACKS

Two Bay of Plenty representatives, S. McLaughlin (Opotiki) and A. Douglas (Rotorua), have been selected in the Maori All Black Rugby team to play British'lsles at Wellington on Wednesday. The team was chosen following a trial match at Palmerston North on Saturday against Manawatu when a Maori XV won 22-15.

McLaughlin, a side tow forward, and Douglas first five-eighth, gain their All Black jerseys for the first time. McLaughlin has been representing the Bay for a number of years while Douglas is now in his first year in representative Rugby. The team:—

Katene (King Country), I. Douglas (Thames Valley), I. Hooper (East Coast). RANGITAIKI COMPETITIONS TO EDGECUMBE

Both the first senior and junior competition of the Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union have been completed and each was won by Edgecumbe. In the senior Edgecumbe took the Smith Shield with a margin of five points from Te Teko, who were second with nine. Then came Thornton seven and Matata two.

With 16 points Edgecumbe won the Innes Shield in the junior grade. They played good football from Otakiri ten points, who were second. Then came Matata wifth six and Te Teko fourth.

Competition for. the Duff and Lion Cups will commence on Saturday.
