Sales Of Lottery Tickets Increasing In New Zealand
“Sales are ever increasing and we do not expect any reaction among investors to the effects of the Gaming Amendment Act which has come into force,” said one leading New Zealand overseas lottery agent when asked to comment on the clause in the Act which makes the preparation or possession of betting or lottery documents punishable by a fine not exceeding £lO. “I have received no police warning,” he said, “and will continue to send for tickets as long as the bank accepts my cheque. Although we in no way encourage the public to speculate in lotteries, the demand for tickets has become almost embarrassing.” Several other well-known agents have remarked that they had received no official warning, although they„had heard of cases where other persons had been advised to discontinue their overseas communications.
