Association Officers Because h eis soon leave the district Mr H. M.* Carter, president of the Edgecumbe Progressive Association, resigned from that position at an executive meeting last week and his place wa staken by Mr G. E. King. Mr D. G. Meikle was elected to the position of secretary.
Horses Impounded During the past month 15 horses were impounded from the Ruatoki, Manawahe, Thornton and Te Teko districts in the Whakatane County. One bull was taken from the Waimana Gorge. Altogether 27 horses were sold at the pound sales. Driving and sale fees totalled £37 14s.
Girls' Marching Officials of the girls' marching organisation here say there is ample evidence of interest, and some good teams should be developed from the local , material available. Helpful hints will be given from IYZ by N. F. McMillan, secretary of the Bay of Plenty Centre of the N.Z. Marching Association, who is to broadcast tomorrow evening at .7.
Postal Votes . People who are ill or infirm, or who fit into a number of other categories of those unable to vote in the normal way at a polling booth are entitled to vote at a general election by mail. However, it' is necessary for these would-be postal voters to write to the Returning Officer (at Rotorua for this electorate) in time for him to send the necessary papers and for them to be returned to him or to a deputy returning officer before the closing of the poll on November 30.
