Substation Completed The new 200 k.v.a. substation in Salonika Street has been completed and is now in service. Street Signs , To give each street at least one sign board 20 new signs are to be erected and 14 repainted. The cost is expected to be about £l7. Pedestrian Poles Striped black and white poles as required by the traffic regulations are to be 1 installed at. authorised crossings within the Borough. Grass Mown The grass at the Heads has been* mowed and' the lower branches of the trees trimmed back to make' way for the mowers. , Electricity Inspector An inspector is to be engaged to interview domestic consumers who are using in excess of 230 units for - light, heat and range. He is to inspect, send out notices and take action in all offences or waste of tricity or use of prohibited appliances. „ New Electrical Appliances Two ranges, two lighting and heating plants and two hot water cylinders were tested and connected to the Whakatane power supply in June. One motor and a number of alterations and additions were also added to the supply. J Pumping Plant Expected The pumping plants of the Whakatane Water Works Department were in service every day of last month. The plans for the new pumping plant have come to hand and delivery of the plant is expected soon. .
