Higher Standard Of Living In N.Z. Now, Matata W.I. Decides

Although the weather was dull, there was a good attendance at the June meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute.' Mrs Peck gave an interesting demonstration on making attractive posies from red corn, and making woollen mops. Mrs Withy and Mrs Caverhill both spoke in appreciation of. the services of Mrs Parkinson, who is changing her residence, and opportunity was taken to present her with a gift and bouquet. The roll call, “Have higher wages brought. a higher standard of living?” met with a very keen response. In the discussion which followed, members generally agreed that New Zealand does enjoy a higher standard. Competition results:—
