THREE SHIELD GAMES ON SATURDAY
On Saturday both the Rangitaiki and Whakatane Rugby Sub-Unions will be playing representative games. In the Hurinui Apanui Shield elimination round Rangitaiki meets Tauranga at Tauranga and Whakatane plays Apanui at Whakatane. The and Whakatane B teams will meet at Matata in the first challenge game of the year for the Moore Shield, of which Rangitaiki are the present holders.
Besides the Hurinui Apanui Shield game at Whakatane there v/ill be a primary school curtain raiser at 1.30 p.m. between the East and West schools. The junior competition is to continue and United will meet Taneatua on No. 2 Field at 1.30 p.m. ‘ RANGITAIKI REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS The following players have been selected . to. represent Rangitaiki against Tauranga in an elimination game for the Hurinui Apanui Shield at Tauranga on Saturday:— Fullback, N. Rangitaiki B is to meet Whakatane at Matata in defence of the Moore Shield and the following players have been selected:—

GALATEA TEAMS TO PLAY ROTORUA The following players have been selected to play in the Galatea A and B teams against Rotorua at Rotorua on Saturday:— A Team—Backs, Porter, Lilas, F. Higgins, T. Higgins, M. Hill, Matthews, Warren, Walsh, Mohi; forwards, Smith, D. W'ilSon, Ohlsen, Anderson, K. Rangi, Russell, Howden, Smyth, Taputu. B Team—Backs, S. Higgins, M. Bird, Wirepa, McCorkindale, Padlie, Carlson, Edmonds; forwards, Rosstier, Flavell, Dixon, R. Wilson, H. Brown, Rutene, Procter, Taylor, Jennings, King. Any player unable to play is to notify Mi’ Goldsmith, Te Whaiti, or Mr Gibbs, Murupara. One bus will leave '■ Te Whaiti with Te Ruatahuna and .Minginui players at 11 aim. Another bus will leave Murupara at 11 a.m. and will call at Kaingaroa.
