St John Ambulance Picnic At Rotoma
Under ideal conditions, some 150 people, members of the St John Ambulance Brigades of the South Auckland district and some friends, met at Lake Rotoma on Saturday for a picnic “get together.” Sponsored by Whakatane, the gathering was representative of Matamata, Tauranga, Opotiki and Whakatane Brigades. After introductions and a friendly chat over a cup of tea, demonstrations of first aid work were given by Opotiki and Whakatane senior Brigades, • the Whakatane Nursing Division, and the Whakatane cadets.
| A swim in the lake preceded lunch, after which a demonstration S of resuscitation was given by Whaj katane cadets, followed by a lecture i by Dr F. Appleby on first aid. Before afternoon tea, the gathering was addressed by the president of the Whakatane St John Ambulance Association, Mr A. J. Canning. Afternoon tea and a general social round closed a most enjoyable day, which all present hope will become an annual event.
